Would anyone want to date a visual sighted person? If not why not?

Visually sighted vs. visually impaired? Might be mildly amusing but I am currently visually impaired.
Deepbreath · 46-50, M
@CereBellum I was trying to think of the correct term, I couldn't remember the term but thank you for bringing it to my attention.

I too am visually impaired also.
@Deepbreath Legally blind in one or both eyes? Cause?
Deepbreath · 46-50, M
@CereBellum Radiotherapy to shrink the cancer in the eyes.
@Deepbreath So, you have malignant melanoma of the eyes? Were was your primary tumor located?
Deepbreath · 46-50, M
@CereBellum As far as I'm aware I had Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma and it spread from the right eye to the left, then when it got diagnosed it was in the Conjunctivita it was known as a MALT, I cannot remember what this meant. I think it was known as Malignant and no one had any idea what would happen with the eyes of radiotherapy. I don't know if it was Melanoma, I cannot be sure, I was told but I couldn't take it in.

Radiotherapy damaged:
The colour of the eyes (I used to be blue eyed, now, I don't even know the colour of the eyes.)
Damaged Rectina
Tear ducts
Tunnel vision
Double vision
Chronic eye pain
Photophobia (sunlight causes very significant eye pain)
Sometimes very red eyes.

I sometimes have to go to hospital due to very significant eye puffiness and it closes the eye.
@Deepbreath. WOW, and I thought I had it bad. So you are actually battling at least 2 different and distinct cancers? I realize how unusual that actually is. Nearly unheard of.
If I am reading this correctly, you started out with Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma (primary) but then turned into ocular cancer? Assuming the cells in your eye are not that of Lymphoma.
My heart goes out to you.
How are you even able to write this?
Deepbreath · 46-50, M
@CereBellum The cancer damaged the eyes so it's just one, but radiotherapy damaged the eyes also, so it's hard to explain in full. The eyes have Lymphoma I was 30 when I had this. I touched type when I was 21. Meaning, I don't need to look at a keyboard to type. Good that I got practice in. Lol
@Deepbreath Curious, help me understand, okay. I have a friend who has about maybe 5% of her vision left due to RP— Retinitis pigmentosa. Really hard time, but she has known for most of her life it was inevitable. Approximately how much vision do you still have?
Deepbreath · 46-50, M
@CereBellum I am sorry to hear about your friend. I have only centered vision the rest is black and I see about 10%
@Deepbreath Radiation I the eyes! Assuming hot laser? Assuming painful? Assuming it must be working well enough to keep proceeding with this therapy? You have had seemingly time to adjust, but I know that’s never really the case.
One more personal question please? Liver, Lungs, Brain is normally where metastatic tumors show up due to the increased blood supply of these organs. Is your lymphoma static now, or has it progressed. What is your outlook?
Deepbreath · 46-50, M
@CereBellum Radition treatment was very hot, very aggressive, first day of treatment I got dry eyes, then it felt like a runny nose, then eyes began to water, then my vision gradually decreased so much so I was nearly hit by a bus. The treatment was successful but really hard to deal with.

The radiographers wanted to stop the treatment as my eyes couldn't cope and my face was bright red, the Dr stated "If we stop the treatment, I would die." So I carried on until the cancer was gone and it did work. But the cost of the devastation is mindblowing.

The rest of the organs are all good which is good news. The outlook in this all is that my eyes are fried and damaged and this will never get back to being as it was. I therefore, have to cope with what vision I do have. Which is not a lot but at least I have something.

I just want to date and when I try to get close, people back off. I believe they feel ashamed, or they can't cope, I don't know, that's why I asked some advice.
@Deepbreath Yes, the dreaded hot lasers are The Worst. Major Irreplaceable damage. One of my other friends had a hemorrhage stroke 15 yrs ago which caused major retinal issues, and for sure physical ones. Right side of body damaged, but somehow workable. We formed a “One Eyed Club”. 3 member now. It helps talking to someone who is totally relatable. Most others aren’t. Thank God for them. I only have a few ex-friends I would wish this on. Ha.
What’s really ironic is that my beautiful 30 yrs old daughter can’t find the “right guy”, even after a few years of trying. However my female friend with RP, meets men seemingly all the time by chance.
Nobody was turned off by her lack of vision. You too will find that caring person. You simply have to.
Deepbreath · 46-50, M
@CereBellum Thank you for very kind words. I give talks at Universities, as it helps me to deal with what happened. I try to chat and when I tell people about my vision no one wants to know or they catfish me. I should be grateful I got nice looks lol.

I think it's the stigma that leaves with people, perhaps they struggle. It is difficult to say why I find it hard to find someone for me.

Well there is a saying, we will always find the one just a matter of time.
@Deepbreath Yes, and that person will totally understand and empathize with your plight.
I am so glad I decided to log on today. Chance encounter with you? No way. As I must of said earlier, I was recently diagnosed with orbital myositis. No known cure. I really needed someone I could relate to. You came at the perfect time.
Please update me on your condition if and when you feel comfortable enough to do so.
Deepbreath · 46-50, M
@CereBellum Glad I joined this site, I only joined today too. Lol

I will keep you updated on my progress, feel free if you fancy a chat, you're more than welcome to pm me anytime you want.
