What's your opinion on fur farms?

I never really thought too much about it. My new home is next door to a mink farm. They got hit by an animal liberation extremists group a few weeks ago. They let I think 200-600 mink out of their cages. The majority of them ended up dying. I'll have to learn more before I form any opinions about it.

If it's a sustainable farm, you're reduced to the moral right/wrong dichotomy of killing for fur. I don't even know where I stand on it. However, many of these "animal liberation" groups seem to not understand about animal survival, and several (most notoriously, PETA) have a "better dead than in captivity" mindset.

@raysam363 is that their reasoning behind releasing animals that are unable to fend for themselves

@morrgin Sometimes, but from a personal perspective I just think they don't plan ahead or even realize that farm animals lack survival skills in the wild. They take a "moral high ground" in freeing the animals, whatever happens later is just nature to them.
