How would you feel if your next door neighbor

Tells you that their son was just diagnosed with schizophrenia and that he is 21 and that is the age that most boys get diagnosed. Then tells you since your son is 9 it could happen to him next.

I'd laugh. Then I'd tell the person its unfortunate their son was diagnosed but reassure them it's known to occur if you're genetically predisposed to it, it's also triggered by environmental factors. That since this is not something that runs in our family, I can't imagine my 9 year old developing this.

Thank them for telling me, that until they find a way to manage their son with the correct medication it may be for the best they keep their son away from mine.
