Why do people equate stubbornness with “bad”?

“Stubbornness” is to have or show determination not to change one's attitude or position on something, especially in spite of good arguments or reasons to do so. If someone tells you you are being stubborn it may then be because they think you should let something go, which is the same as “I don’t think your stance holds water”.
