There's been a lot of instances of domestic violence around my way.

Most people have chosen to not intervene or the victims refuse help.

What would you do if you knew someone in such a situation?

I would call the police and try to support and protect the victim.Too many have been badly hurt and killed by an abusive partner.This includes women abusing men.One case was Tracy Andrews who stabbed her boyfriend 42 times in his car and claimed it was car thieves and a woman that battered her boyfriend to death in public.He died from head injuries from when she kicked him.
