Do your feelings ever come back in short bursts from your first love or for an old lover?

For me, my feelings sometimes come back from my first love. He was the nicest and most sweetest guy I've ever met, but we never became official due to complications that made it impossible for us to become a couple. We were very close, and to this day I think we still love each other unconditionally but more in a close friend way.
