Do you ever have that song that you can’t listen to because it hurts to even remember the person that you associate the song to?

If yes, then what is it and what’s the story behind it?

"Should have known better" by Sufjan Stevens.

It is the song a person showed me along with their soul. Just as the song does, I was told about a dark oppressing past that seemed to take your future away from you. I was entrusted with their truth, but I betrayed it.

@FlowerAlchemist Betrayed it how?

@Menetics That person was without soul, lost, deprived of meaning. And they desperately sought it. So I showed them my world, I showed them hope in the shape of my dreams. They slowly recovered from past wounds. Yet a point came where contradictions filled their head. My dreams, my thoughts, had intruded there. They were good while that person was getting out of darkness, but later they became the source of inner conflict. I had unknowingly limited that person's freedom.
