When I was at school, which was only a few years ago, the school I was at banned the wearing of shorts in the summer months. There were some really hot summers, and me and my friends felt sweaty and manky in trousers but the school wouldn't relax the dress code.

Funnily when I went to school back in the days, we would have been happy if the uniform allowed something other than shorts... :D

When I was in grammar school, we had no air conditioning (like they do now) and we could wear anything BUT shorts. The guys wore slacks and the girls wore skirts. Blue shorts were reserved for gym classes only.
