The village where I spent my childhood. Good walks; some fairly happy memories.
SW-User
@alan20 Do you visit?
alan20 · M
@SW-User Quite often. My wife doesn't like it, strangely. I suppose it is indulging a bit in nostalgia but so what. Follow your heart!
SW-User
@alan20 That's a shame that she doesn't share your like for it. I mean of course she won't love it the same way.
alan20 · M
@SW-User One of many things but she puts up with me. Not many would.I actually don't think "living in the past" reduces the wish to but I do think that feeling anything is better than numbness or indifference.
SW-User
@alan20 Sometimes I think numbness is a welcome feeling. Just temporarily mind. Until I am ready to face whatever feeling there is.
alan20 · M
@SW-User I know the feeling. Its a bit akin to shock. I suppose it can be healthy for a limited time, but we all need to get back on our feet one way or another.
SW-User
@alan20 Agree

@SW-User I remember once someone stayed in our house while she was trying to come to terms with things. She kept playing the Liebestod from Wagner's Tristan und Isolde over and over , and weeping. I've never been sure whether it helped or did the opposite. I wonder if tears can be more therapeutic for women than men. I'm thinking that's silly as I write it.
SW-User
@alan20 I can understand her way. I am the same. I need to overload myself with feelings, to be purged of it. I think its more individual than gender.
alan20 · M
@SW-User You're right. About the gender. Men though sometimes go running off to prostitutes!
SW-User
@alan20 Really? @ to prostitutes? Is it that common? I'd hate if my man did that.
alan20 · M
@SW-User Can happen. Solves nothing!
alan20 · M
@SW-User Of course it wouldn't be happening if he was still your man! This last sentence anyway is not autobiographical.
SW-User
@alan20 But just the thought ... is upsetting. I'm just a sentimental person.
alan20 · M
@SW-User You see it very much depends on why the relationship foundered. But I don't want to go further. I'm sentimental and was once unreasonably idealistic, unable to understand how a genuine love relationship could end. But it can.
alan20 · M
@SW-User Thank you for your heart. It matters to me that we're friends.
SW-User
@alan20 :) Thank you.
