Have You Stereo-typed Someone To Then Realize You Were Dead Wrong?

Yes of course it's happened to me, check the Avatar. I don't care because I get it, I understand. Now today I approach situations and enlighten individuals with real-life facts and information. Stereo-types can easily be dismantled with a little intelligence, real-life experience, some personal education and an open mind. And I am speaking of stereo-types of all sorts for all people. Everyone of us are "individuals" and so what if one of us are a certain way that many find disdainful- stop painting a whole picture for others in that same group. It's another tool for division.

@Psycho Nice, that was very ignorant of him. I think many people forget that we are individuals; we have to start basing our regards for others on individual actions.

I was sitting in my truck in the parking lot waiting for my friend in Kroger to come back and an older Indian guy pulled up next to me and got out and locked his car twice then checked the back door handle again while looking in my direction nonstop. I then got out to go see what was taking friend so long and the guy kept looking back at his car even after I had gotten out to go into Kroger. I definitely felt that bullshit stereo-type. I don't look, talk, walk like a thug or anything that would render one to think I'm about to steal a car. If the Indian guy knew of me personally, not in a billion years he would have presumed or even guessed that I'd do something like that.

Another time, I went into a gas station to pay for gas and I felt eyes on me and watched this older white man stare me down the entire time I walked to the gas station and stayed watching me while I was inside the store. I guess I was suppose to rob it right? Put on a face mask, pull out a gun and make a scene because I'm Black and young right? Forget that I am in individual.
