Is the idea of meeting the "ideal friend" online too good to be true?

All I can say is that intuition speaks volumes. If you feel like you're being tricked by someone online, you probably are. But I also know that there are so many genuine people on sites like this, and I always tell myself I'll find the "ideal friend". Why do I constantly insist on pulling the wool over my own eyes and being so quick to believe everything I feel about people?
