Disrespect or abuse of the elderly
Often they have forgotten more
then the rude person treating them like a child will EVER know
They grew up in an era that had few conveniences
Running water ,toilet inside the house , a stove you didn't have to chop wood and build a fire in it ,,a horse and buggy instead of a truck
and ox and a plow instead of a tractor ,and few even had phones ,,he was born in the 1800's
computers and cell phones ,ready made products already prepared for you
nothing was easy for them ,,yet they fed thousands ,and provided jobs
IF you wanted something you had to work for it ,
They raised families ,run companies and just for the most basic health care
you had to pay at the moment services were rendered ,,and often it was trial and error at best ,,even the doctors did't have all the modern convinces we have today ,
They were the law ,they didn't have cops and firemen keeping them safe
Tell them they didn't need a gun ,and grandpa employed anyone willing to work ,regardless of nationality or color ,
And to see a kid treat them like they are stupid and Google everything they say
It sets my blood to boil
My Grandpas Dad founded and built our town ,politicians ,law enforcement and conservationist have all sought advice from my Grandpa ,,
And to see people treat him like he was a mindless ninny ,,,or any elderly person
I had to tell them who they were talking down to ,,,
The arrogance of some today
I have to remind myself I was once young and cocky too
and I thought he was obsolete and behind the times too
And he was patient with me and didn't snap my neck like a twig
He was used to it ,but he should not have been ,,its a lot worse now days
Common courtesy and common sense are no longer common
I would have loved to see a kid tell him "You have to earn my respect ,I don't respect you just because your old "
Grandpa was all man ,,he could put the fear of God in you quick
I guess I take after him ,,a lot
But he was also a Gentleman
