When do I use the word something and anything?

marsbar · F
You use something in affirmative sentences like “I would like something to eat”.

You use anything in negative sentences like “I don’t want anything to eat”.

@TerMinator I don't think anything has to be negative. you could say "I'm so hungry I would eat anything" for example.

@TerMinator It’s not used the same way. You can say “There is nothing in the fridge” or “There isn’t anything in the fridge”.

@Salix75 Yes, you can use it like that as well. A lot of times it’s used with negative verbs.
