Why listen to sad songs when you know your feelings are unstable?

Because they're validating and it's nice to be validated.

yea some people say let it all out in order to feel better, i rarely listen to sad music but when i do its more because i want someone to have sympathy for me and knowing someone feels this way too makes me feel better, less alone.

I don't do that to myself. I prefer the sounds of rain I'm currently listening to. 🤷‍♀️

I think it's a good release to let the sadness/tears flow.

Fighting it can be useless, give in and it may pass more quickly.
