Is it better to be cremated rather than buried?

Now a days more people are being cremated rather than buried, I used to think that cremation was horrible but lately i think it is far better, when you think it is a cleaner process and it saves space, after all our bodies are completely inflammable.I had arranged a few years ago to be buried but now have changed my mind, what are the views of SW folks.

I feel that it's an incredibly personal choice when it comes to deciding what happens to your remains after death.

I'd also find it difficult to say which option would use up less space in some respects... mainly due to the fact that we don't have many of the same options that are available in other parts of the world that would enable us to store more cremains in a smaller amount of space in a way that would be respectful to the dead while still being attractive to the eye of any visiting relative who may wish to pay their respects. While an urn does take up a smaller amount of space, it can be restrictive if you decide that you want to be laid to rest with your partner or another family member. With a burial, you do have that option.

Thanks to more environmental awareness, burials have also become more environmentally friendly than they've ever been with more funeral homes offering biodegradable coffins. Crematoriums sometimes offer an option of a biodegradable urn that will feed a tree as it breaks down, too.

Personally speaking, I'd like to see more choices offered for both burials and cremations - such as the option to request seeds be placed on the grave in lieu of flowers... native seeds would be kinder to the environment than some of the expensive flower displays currently widely available and they'd last longer than a few weeks as well as being attractive to look at.

Cremations where the deceased is placed in a graveyard still takes up more space than necessary for my liking and I'd like to see that improved on.

@HootyTheNightOwl I wasn't thinking about burying ashes just being scattered to the 4 winds.
