Does the date format MM/DD/YYYY sometimes cause confusion?

Personally I prefer a standard Day/Month/Year format because if its Month/Day/Year then seeing a date like 11/10/2018 would have me thinking:

"Is that 11 October or 10 November?" 🤔

We have always used day month year!
When I lived in the States they thought my birthday was April 5th not 4th of May!
