Should i tell my supervisor that work makes me want to kill myself?

We have our weekly (actually happens more like every other month) supervision. We are supposed to discuss each case, what is working and what's not, and maybe even my yearly evaluation. Last time he cut me short because he scheduled me in his last hour before going on vacation for a week and a half. So lots of stuff has been pilling on. Also I keep getting pulled from my regular work to deal with "emergencies" half of which he creates.

Anyways there has been a huge push to catch up, but I can't because something else always comes up. On top of that, my depression and constant dread make it really hard for me to be 100% productive. Whenever I get overwhelmed I start having thoughts of hosting myself just enough for be put on medical leave. I, of course, don't have any plans to follow through, but I worry about them pushing me off the ledge

You need to find a less stressful job
MaliaAgain · 36-40, F
@St0ut that is very true. But part of the issue is the feeling that I'm stuck. With my degree anywhere else I would make about 1/3 of the money I do anywhere else, and I have a mortgage

@MaliaAgain Are you looking? Going on interviews?
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@MaliaAgain is there any other expenses that you can cut/cut back on to help with a potential job change and therefore pay difference?
St0ut · 51-55, M
@MaliaAgain I wish I could do more. Talk to hr. If you can. But there are no easy answers.

@zeeva70 I have looked, but not recently. Much harder to make a leap like that with a baby

@iamnikki we don't really do much in terms of luxuries. We could cut the cable but that wouldn't help that much
zeeva70 · F
@MaliaAgain Yes, fear of the unknown. Consider looking. Sites like Indeed makes searching and often submitting the application easy. I have to do more searching too so the advice I'm giving to you, is really for me.

Re: cable, if you have wireless internet, you can get a streaming service.

I wish I could just make everything better. :(

@zeeva70 the thing is in my field a master's is usually required, which I don't have. So my problem is not the accordions, it's the difference in pay for the jobs i qualify for. Plus I got job security and most jobs are through grants which generally end after 3 years

Apply for jobs even if you don’t have a masters. Is you have 80% of the “requirements” apply.
