States and countries legalizing or willing to legalize 'marijuana' on public demand! What do you think about it?

I am against it completely!

This is true that one has the right to live life the way he/she wishes to!

This thought sounds good till the time, one's action does no harm to others and environment!

By legalizing 'marijuana' we might make our future generation become addicted to it!

Yes, it is all about one's will but most do not have the will to stay from the stuff they become addicted to!

This step can hamper the 'growth and development' of our future generations!

I am a single man but I care for the families who love their children and others in the family!

Upbringing does play a major role but curiosity overpowers every emotion!

One puff can ruin the life of someone who used to be wise and happy!

To all those, who see 'wonders' after being 'up in the smoke', please do not ruin the life of others with such intriguing expressions!

Thank you!

I know 'smokers' would not stop!

Nothing against those who smoke stuff but I do not like 'smokers' (referring to smokers who smoke weird stuff other than cigarette)!

Thought-process does differ from person to person!

God bless all!

🙏

I really don't care about it tbh. People who preach the health benefits are people who will smoke it like a recreational purpose in the first place. The people who suffer do not have a single thought about marijuana, unless they've already had tried it and found love for it.

If a person is suffering, painkillers is much more effective. Trust me I've tried it, and it does not easy any pain what so ever. And I'm aware there are much better ways to treat cancer than smoking, otherwise marijuana would have been legalized a long time ago.

@MartinTheFirst everyone's experiences are different. My mother has recently started using medical marijuana (no THC, just the CBD) in edible form, and she finds it very effective for managing her chronic pain.

@Salix75 Yeah I truly wonder why their experiences are different. I do not know of a single person where Ibuprofen does not reduce pain. Is this perhaps a sign of it being more of a placebo effect, or a matter of outlook?
@MartinTheFirst You nailed it bro!

Glad that you did not become addcited to it!

God bless you!

Stay healthy!

@Salix75 Legalizing something for medical purpose is different thing!

As medicine, it should be prescribed by a Doctor!'

So, do not use 'medical reasons' as an excuse for smoking stuff!

@MartinTheFirst well the studies have shown there are positive effects in terms of pain management. as for ibuprofen...sure it works... except not everyone can take it

@ExplorerofInfiniteSpaces we have doctor prescribed medical marijuana here. Only today has recreational use become legal. 2 separate issues, both of which I support, for different reasons.

I'm not using medical purposes as an argument for legalized recreational use... I was addressing Martin's position that based on his personal experience "it does not easy any pain what so ever"
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@Salix75 Well I conducted my own study and while it made my mindset more at ease in the way it usually does, I was still very aware and receptive of and to the pain. The fact that it did not work on me in the form of a painkiller shows how these studies are unreliable. As far as I'm aware, a true painkiller should work for everyone (unless they're alergic to it of couse) since it's a chemical reaction and not an imagined effect.

So in the form a true painkiller I'd have to say no it's not working that way. It could however be argued that it has the possibility of easing your mind, like any recreational drug could.

@MartinTheFirst would be interesting to know in your 'study' what the ratio of THC/CBD was, the potencies you tested, how much was ingested, in what form, what controls you had etc. the way they do actual scientific studies.

And no - not all painkillers work for everyone, which is why the idea of personalized medicine is growing (based on our personal genetics). Personally I don't do well with dilaudid - it takes the pain away, but usually makes me break out in a cold sweat and vomit horrifically. Other people tolerate it better.

And it's not always just about "will it work" but "should this particular person be taking this particular medicine" My husband for instance isn't allowed ibuprofen, but can take acetaminophen.

Another positive for some cancer patients for example, is that some find that ingesting marijuana helps curb nausea and increase appetite. So again, it's not always just about addressing one symptom (i.e. pain)

anyway... you do you, and I'll do me

Lots of blanket statements there.

My wife and I both use a CBD product for inflammation that we have found to be more effective than any other product.

We haven’t smoked weed in 20 years.

As for the effectiveness... marijuana isn’t a pain killer. THC has psychotropic properties that can calm anxiety and improve appetite when that it appropriate.

Can it be abused? Yup. Just like cigarettes (more addictive), booze, prescription drugs, etc.

It’s unfortunate that folks on both sides of the issue make blanket statements not rooted in fact.

I meant that the effect of painkillers, such as affecting the nervous system to make you lose the sense of pain in your body, will always work. However with marijuana it doesn't. I never talked about the side-effects such as vomiting, sweating, etc. That's a different topic.

anyway... you do you, and I'll do me
If that's really what you thought then you wouldn't discuss it with me in the first place.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@JoeyFoxx Then you do agree with me that it's not a painkiller at least. That's great.
JoeyFoxx · 56-60, M
I never claimed it was a painkiller. Anyone who claims it is doesn’t understand what a painkiller is.

With that, your statements that painkillers “work” are not entirely accurate. People can develop a tolerance and certain drugs are less effective on certain people depending on their biology.

Marijuana has a place. It needn’t be outlawed. But, the knee jerk reaction of some regions over-promoting it’s health benefits is unfortunate.
