Any other black women hate getting braids because of the pain?

I haven't had my hair braided in years. Got it done today. I forgot how painful it is after it's complete, and how heavy weave can be.

I honestly can't stand having braids I weaves in my hair! It's way to heavy and gives me horrible headaches. We took a trip last summer so I got braids that way I wouldn't have to worry about doing my hair on the trip. And that was a huge mistake. They were so long and heavy, I couldn't stand it. I'll never do that again.

I usually just wear a wig, but as you said one of the reasons I got the braids was just to not have to deal with it for a while. It's pretty, but it's very tight. Feels like it's pulling. She didn't even really braid it into my scalp either which is weird. She braided around rubberbands.

Oh wow. What kind of braids did you get? I love how braids look but man...when they start pulling your scalp 😖
I usually rock my natural hair but I've been interested in getting a wig. I do use clip in extensions from time to time

I got jumbo braids.
I can't figure out how to get my hair to curl naturally though, or I'd do that instead. I always just turns out frizzy. How do you wear yours?

Jumbo braids are cute. I wear mine curly. It's naturally very curly so I just rock that. I don't use heat anymore because I fried it back in highschool. I twist outs or finger curls too. And I do a lot of updos. YouTube videos taught me a lot about taking care of my hair girl

The girls in the videos make it look so easy and pretty. I come out looking like a matted poodle. 😂

@Slink lmao! They do though. Everytime I try a new technique it comes out all sorts of wrong. Even if I follow it step by step. Ugh! Struggles
