I don't believe in depression

I strongly believe that the happiness of others are also your happiness.. this will not let anyone alone be empty.. I agree that depression is a state of too much self centeredness, one constantly feels that others are inadequate of easing one's discomfort. When one is freed from the walls of their selfishness, no one will experience such state of mind.

It can be either genetically pre-disposed and due to lack of serotonin or inproper re-uptake of serotonin or it can be external.

If you'd been through heart break, suicide attempts, several loved ones dying, immense psychological stress, watching friends waste away to heroin, being acutely aware of the nature of human cruelty from a young age, domestic abuse, extreme physical violence, having close friends that were raped/abused, you wouldn't say something as naive as that.

It in fact comes mostly from caring about others happiness and seeing it ripped away from them, whilst nothing changes. It's not all about yourself.

A very sheltered perspective indeed.
