What Is Your Perisonal Motto?

I suppose it is possible to have more than one depending on mood. Usually I would say "God sees all." But the mood I am in today is better represented by my OTHER mottos ~ "Take no prisoners

In real life as opposed (possibly) to Fantasyland : the principle of consent is absolute.
Abrienda · 26-30, F
@alan20 Excellent.

Ahhh...the two I mentioned ARE mottos I use in "real life". Or was you're reference to "Fantasyland" just an uncalled-for snark?
alan20 · M
@Abrienda No, because I don't know what a snark is. My "motto" was a genuine comment on myself. As you say ask me another time and I could say "No to violence or bullying or judging" (in real life etc.). I might be told something I wouldn't particularly enjoy myself, but if they do - fine, and I'm totally opposed to lynch-mobs!😊
Abrienda · 26-30, F
@alan20 "Snark" as in snarky...verb form. From Lewis Carroll.
alan20 · M
@Abrienda Ah! All kinds of strange things happened to Alice - in Fantasyland!
Abrienda · 26-30, F
@alan20 True except this happened in his poem "The Hunting of the Snark."
Living/working in Saudi Arabia is like being in Wonderland...a hot, boring version.
alan20 · M
@Abrienda Wouldn't fancy Saudi Arabia. Do what Tchaikovsky used do while conducting - hold on to your head!
Abrienda · 26-30, F
@alan20 Second year now...and since they cut people's heads off here its not bad advice!
alan20 · M
@Abrienda I know about the heads! Are you teaching there? I've heard the teachers can be given very valuable gifts by pupils.
Abrienda · 26-30, F
@alan20 No I am working as a nurse second year though there is some teaching involved but very little.
alan20 · M
@Abrienda Good luck! I love Prague by the way. Dvorak and Gaudi.
Abrienda · 26-30, F
@alan20 Yes...my late father was Czech and my mother Philippine so I adopted the CR as my own country and will emigrate there,
alan20 · M
@Abrienda Excellent choice, though very cold and slippery in the winter. Love Prague coffees. Sorry about my blunder over Gaudi - Barcelona is my other favourite city! The House of Artists has great acoustics. We must keep in touch - see if we can transport Gaudi to the Hunting of the Snark!
Abrienda · 26-30, F
@alan20 Hahaah! Cute. I actually will be living eventually in the beautiful city of Hradec Kralove some 180 km from Praga north then east.

I have never been to Barcelona...
alan20 · M
@Abrienda The architecture in Barcelona is stupendous. You keep walking into people because you're always looking up. Also the cable car from the port to the top of Mont Juic just when it's starting to get dark is real romantic.
Abrienda · 26-30, F
Prague of course is terribly romantic but I have found a lot of romance in my favorite town of Hradec which has two rivers flowing through it and an outer suburb unchanged since 1880 where my lover's family lives, There are many smaller towns and villages around and the best black beer in the world you can only find at one pub which I adore and blame for the slight tummy roll I came back to Saudi with last week!
alan20 · M
@Abrienda Must try to see it some time. I seem to have heard the name somewhere. Any of the Czech composers from there, do you know? Dvorak, Smetana, Suk, etc. As you'll have gathered I'm a musician. The last time I visited Praha I went to the cemetery at Vysehrad (spelling?) to visit Dvorak's grave but it was opened and cordoned off. I remembered that the violinist Josef Suk was a descendant by marriage and guessed that he must have died. I've never seen your country outside of Praha. Have you ever been to Ireland?
Abrienda · 26-30, F
Well of course I like Dvorak though my taste in Classical music runs more to French and Russian composers along with Brahmas. I have never been to Ireland but am very fond of Irish history and would love to go and visit places associated with the Jacobites.
Abrienda · 26-30, F
One of my favorite books of all time is The Year of the French by Thomas Flanagan which I have read countless times and always take something new from it.
Abrienda · 26-30, F
@alan20 One of my favorite books of all time is The Year of the French by Thomas Flanagan which I have read countless times. My ambition is to walk the same route they took...I have strong legs!
alan20 · M
@Abrienda Brahms and Dvorak were great admirers of each other's music. I love the Russians : Melody and nostalgia! If I were to have music at my funeral it would be the slow movement of Rachmaninov's 2nd. Symphony. Have to go out shortly but we'll keep in touch, friend.
Abrienda · 26-30, F
I hope so...and yes Brahms was a well-liked man. I am also an especial fan of Russian opera and church music, speaking of Rachmaninov.
