One thing we can always count on is change
AlmostAnAngel · 100+, F
I think we are going backwards.
KittyKat121 · 26-30, F
@AlmostAnAngel More of a continuous loop, I think, where we create new rules but forget where we need to improve. 3 steps forwards, 1 step back. Still a bigger increase on the destruction rather than fixing what's broken
bijouxbroussard · F
We seem to be going in the opposite direction…devolving, really.
Dv8rs · 18-21, F
@bijouxbroussard Yes, I have noticed lately some apelike people, beating their chests. Devolving could be spot on, especially in mentality.
plankter979 · 51-55, M
The world evolves and will recover, it's our health, safety, and quality of life that is irreversibly down the drain...
KaTeeEvent · 36-40, F
As it has through the eons, enduring life-threatening catastrophes long before we lowly mammals hid in the trees. The fate for us humans, I fear, is far, far less as encouraging.
MissPriscillaPrim · 70-79, T
@plankter979 As Paul Ehrlich said, Nature bats last.
firefall · 61-69, M
the world really isnt dying
but we're replacing the current biosphere with a new one with different conditions, gradually, and those conditions are likely to be inimical to us and most vertebrates (at least), so effectively we're killing OUR world off & replacing it with the world of the Cockroach Overlords.

I think we're far from dying. I'd say our world is in like its teen years. Experimenting and trying to reach the skies, but it's still learning, so one day it will be a full fledged man or woman.
KittyKat121 · 26-30, F
B@Dan193 But the environment is dying bit by bit. The population is increasing at a rate that creates a consumption far quicker than the natural Earth can provide. How do you envision the world in it's "adulthood"?
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@KittyKat121 Well I guess we're one of those teens that experiment with alcohol x)
About the consumption part, they are beginning to grow in special facitilities, on racks and shelfs, u can google it, it's something related to eco planting. So we wouldn't waste space and soil on growing food no more.
Regarding its adulthood, I think it's going to move out - interplanetary travel.

Yes, the world is really dying, because we are mortal, but at the same time there's new life to replace the dead. I like your analysis of moving closer to another form of evolution, and we've done it before, why not again?
firefall · 61-69, M
Well, not dying, but the biosphere is undergoing a rapid realignment, which will offer many empty niches for species to evolve into. Probably including the tool-wielding niches.
Xuan12 · 36-40, M
At this point, genetic evolution is all but stopped for humans. We now rely on technological and sociological evolution.

SW-User
I don’t believe either is happening.

Nothing. Concerning people, I doubt we’ll evolve any further since we create technology that adapts the environment to our needs instead of the other way around. Concerning the planet, it’s going through cycles as usual. @KittyKat121
KaTeeEvent · 36-40, F
For those who say it is not dying, that over-population is of little concern, that the environment can’t be affected by man, why not listen to the vast majority of scientists and simply not put forth a non-educated assumption or opinion.@SW-User

SW-User
@KaTeeEvent 🙄 The vast majority aren’t saying that...Study it a little more from multiple professional perspectives before trying to attack someone who doesn’t believe everything they’re told to believe as you do.

More like massive change
Guess that could be seen as a form of evolution

good question. won't know until we are there
hunkalove · 61-69, M
It's dying.
plankter979 · 51-55, M
We’ve never stopped evolving. The world’s not gonna die but we may go extinct sooner than we would like.

I'd say the latter as crazy as this world is at times.

It’s over, the phone drones and the technocrats are destroying humanity.

We will die before it does

We’re gonna evolve into single celled organisms once we fuck up the planet so much nothing more complex can survive on it.

We are clearly NOT evolving
