Do you ever find talking/conversing draining?

I went to meet my boyfriends mom and grandma yesterday, and they talk a lot... it mentally and physically drained me—though I don’t mean what they were saying was boring. I specifically just hate being caught in conversations, and theirs no way out. There’s no moment of silence, their are just words forcing themselves into your brain. It’s just agh!
Yes, that’s called being introverted for me. I honestly become socially exhausted after a while. I’m not great with maintaining conversation for a long period of time with people because it literally drains me after a while and I feel smothered and overwhelmed it’s as if I need to take a break to recharge. It is exhausting, and a lot of people misunderstand it and I feel like I have to constantly explain it to people because non introverts find it extremely difficult to understand for some reason and a lot of the time will become offended and pouty.

@Stark how exactly do you tell people this? I would love to know, because I’m sick of having to almost have my head explode from being talked off! 😭
@Acadiaisgone Sometimes it’s not really necessary to mention or it can’t be helped such as being at an event where you maybe expected to socialize because you don’t want to come off as rude so sometimes you do have to suck it up and deal with that social exhaustion for a while because those type of situations aren’t really an everyday thing it’s more of like a once in a while thing. Now if it’s someone who is a bit overwhelming as in they want to speak regular/hangout regularly and I just feel smothered by them I’m pretty straightforward about it and just let them know. I enjoy speaking to you, although I become socially exhausted easily I also make it clear it’s nothing they’ve done, I’m not upset with them, I’m just introverted. 🤷🏽‍♀️ I usually only have to make those kind of statements on here though people in person kind of leave me alone for the most part my whole profile basically explains how I’m introverted and reasonings as to why I may not be the best to chat with. You can look at it if you like.

Yess. Like at work today with a new co-worker. I was trying to not be rude and just leave
This is normal for introverts.
Extroverts are energized and inspired by spending time with others.
Introverts can't handle too much time with others and need time alone to feel refreshed.
It's natural and it's a trait that lasts for life, just like the color of eyes.

Yes. That's a sign you're an introvert. People drain your energy and you need "me" time to recharge.

I would if anybody would ever let me talk.
Acadiaisgone · 22-25, F
@Lostpoet HA I’ve had that problem too. People love talk talk talking, but when I try to, they suddenly don’t wanna.

@Acadiaisgone That's why I like it on here I can say whatever I want, and nobody will probably read it anyway. But atleast I got to say it. Haha.

Yes, you may be an introvert.

I'm pretty outgoing and even I relate with this. Sometimes it's just dreadful being trapped talking to someone and unable to escape into your own thoughts.

Yes, especially when I don’t sympathize with the person, and that’s not something rare to happen 😌.
