Doubt it. Many wanted to move to Canada if Trump was elected. We're #1 in homelessness & incarceration.
@DarkCrazyArtistGeekGamer Numbers, yes. We've got more of everything. Percentage of the population? We're not even close to first place.

@DarkCrazyArtistGeekGamer and then they didn't.
@DarkCrazyArtistGeekGamer Still at least 2 1/2 years of President Trump's term left. Plenty of time to move to Canada.

@Mamapolo2016 There is no country in the history of the earth that has incarcerated a greater percentage of its own population than the USA. Need to check your facts: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_incarceration_rate
@Jackaloftheazuresand No, plenty did.
@Abstraction I was talking about homeless. I should have made that clear. And it's our lawmakers who make the laws. Nobody on either team has done very well on that score.

@DarkCrazyArtistGeekGamer What were the numbers that said they would compared to those that did after saying it?
Chaoshead · 22-25, M
@DarkCrazyArtistGeekGamer That is true, but there is a lot more to a country than just incarceration and homeless rates.

America has the largest GDP, one of the largest GDP's per-capita, largest military etc. but those don't incapsulate what makes it great either.

America has one of (if not the most) heterogenous populations on earth. It's the most influential country on earth, not only on a political scale but cultural level as well. Hollywood movies and American shows dominate the international scene. America's tech innovations and entrepreneurial nature has created some of the greatest advancements known to man.

And while sometimes counter-effective, America fights in the areas other countries are either too weak to or not willing too. Such as battling terrorism or helping humanitarian efforts.

@Mamapolo2016 Ah yes. Not even close on homelessness. Some interesting analysis links the massive growth of imprisonment with the privatization of the system. Pretty strong correlation to suggest that private ownership is not always best for all things.
@Jackaloftheazuresand In the potential 1000s however motive can't be clarified. I think many didn't realize the requirements.
@Chaoshead I do agree a lil with its culture & some humanitarian work.
@Abstraction Then we change it. Clean up the laws on the books. Address circumstances that feed more of our people into incarceration.

I don't claim there aren't things that need fixed. But if your back door starts to squeak, you don't burn down the house.
Abstraction · 61-69, M
@Mamapolo2016 Nicely put. A lot to fix in my own country, I assure you.
@Abstraction Exactly.
@DarkCrazyArtistGeekGamer This is an excerpt from a CNN article about the threats to move to Canada, and how many followed through.

1,882 Americans have applied for permanent residency in Canada in 2017, just 66 more applications from the same time period in 2016.
@DarkCrazyArtistGeekGamer Regarding transplants between Canada and U.S.:

That's about 33,000 per year. By comparison about 9,000 Americans move to Canada each year, and the U.S. has nine times as many people
@Mamapolo2016 Yeah, I looked there already.
