how do you know when you should just stop attempting to talk to people & just be a hermit instead

When you realize you really don't have anything to say to them; not because you dislike ppl or have a problem with them but because you realize you're happier alone and have nothing to genuinely say to anyone. I still work with ppl much to my dismay but the majority of my time is spent alone.
