Hitting your spouse

SW-User
@abe182 Agree.

@kayoshin Self defense/defending your loved ones is something different. The spouse coming at the other or the child with the knife has no bloody excuse for doing it.

@SW-User It's not different it's hitting your spouse i just found at least 2 valid excuses for it.
"excuse
verb
ɪkˈskjuːz,ɛkˈskjuːz/Submit
1.
seek to lessen the blame attaching to (a fault or offence); try to justify." as you posted below so you have at least 2 instances where you can justify violence against someone you're married to.

@kayoshin It is different when it is self defense. It is provoked. Maybe it would have been better phrased as 'unprovoked spouse hitting'.

Well you said "hitting your spouse" and i replied why it doesn't fit the post. You just tried to add an excuse yourself "well at that moment she would no longer be my spouse" which further pushes the point that it's excusable :) but your reasoning is wrong since in the eyes of everyone including the law she is your spouse your personal opinion doesn't really matter untill you file for divorce. In fact she can claim you abused her and the burden of proof would fall on you, to prove you acted in the interest of you or your children and god help you if you had no witness.

@SW-User "It is different when it is self defense. It is provoked. Maybe it would have been better phrased as 'unprovoked spouse hitting'." yes or even better said "marital abuse" which implies the lack of excuse.

@kayoshin Let's not get dragged down with the technicalities of what is said. It was explained what was meant.

@abe182 Actually, I can think of a reason for hitting your spouse. If she's freaking out in a very dangerous situation and you need to calm her down the fastest way possible. A slap to bring her back to her senses would be very justifiable.

SW-User
@Classified or a kiss to her lips would quieten her down better.

@SW-User Could be better if one could get that close when she's freaking out. It's not like you much time to think things through in that situation.

SW-User
@Classified lol.
