Why does black ice need to be a thing?

I was walking outside at 5:40 this morning. Dark enough out already, when all of a sudden I'm falling down my back porch steps! Now I have a decent sized bruise on my ass 😭😭

I almost got into a bad accident hitting black ice but I kept it cool and basically kept my car under control with one hand.
