Do Men TRULY like/want a confident woman?

I hear men often say that they like a confident female, but is this really so? Most men have the natural instinct to be the "rescuer" and seem to gravitate towards women needing some type of emotional support. A woman who comes across as confident may be seen as less desirable and to independent (not needing to be rescued) Does this inclination to rescue lead them away from the type of female they claim to appreciate?

*Open to anyone to answer. This is not a moral or political statement and directed at no one. It is food for thought and treat it as such:)*

Hmmm interesting. Seems some have different definitions for confident.
To me it just means feeling or showing confidence in ones own ability, self-assured.

I'm thinking it would be something a truly confident man would appreciate more...?

@Magenta Yes I would agree. I appreciate someone who is confident and has self awareness versus constantly downing themselves.

Indeed. Someone always putting themselves down and feeling sorry for themselves is a huge turn off.

A woman can be confident yet still soft/nurturing and even a little submissive. @ravenwind43

@Magenta submissive my ass! This is how men got power over us in the first place. An S&M roleplay thing ok...but not just to make the male feel more....male

@Fernie A more traditional type relationship doesn't have to be a negative or mean the woman is supressed either. :)

Spot on. I like and respect a man that leads and it has nothing to do with oppression. A genuinely confident man won't oppress either. He will appreciate her in her own confidence. :-) @ravenwind43
