Can anyone out there explain why Roy Moore may get elected and others with lesser offenses retire?!!!!

It seems that values, respect for one another and truthfulness is now a bad thing?! Those that admit they've screwed up get into trouble but those that deny any wrong doing walk!!!!?

Dating teens is acceptable behaviour for republicans in Alabama.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@UserNameSW And democrats in the rest of the US. 'Dating teens' was normal until a few years ago when it was decided that women could no longer look after themselves and need governments to tell them who to date.
@UserNameSW Surely u jest! Lol! Thx for making me laugh!!!

@Shewolfiie69 I never jest. I have tried jousting. Now I have this hole in my heart that no one can fill.

@hippyjoe1955 No. Just... no. I begin to suspect you are playing a role on this site and making up outrageous stuff to get a reaction out of people.
UserNameSW · 46-50, M
@hippyjoe1955 the norms of the past are just that, in the past.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@UserNameSW Yes they are. We can not judge what was normal then by what is normal now. Life doesn't work that way.

In the 1980s and 1990s it was unacceptable for someone in their 30s to 'date' someone in their teens.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@UserNameSW Actually no it was unacceptable in some places and not others. Today in some places it is OK for a man in his 30s to date a teenager.

Not in the US of A
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@UserNameSW Don't bet on it. The US is a very large place.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@UserNameSW Let me ask you a question. If your 17 year old daughter told you she was dating a 30 year old man. What would you do?
UserNameSW · 46-50, M
@hippyjoe1955 Alabama law ....... An individual who is 19 years old or older has sexual contact with someone who is younger than 16 but older than 12 has committed sexual abuse. If a person over the age of 16 has sex with a person under that age, they have committed second-degree rape, provided they are more than two years older than their partner.

This is from a law passed in 1975.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@UserNameSW So a 17 year old.....
UserNameSW · 46-50, M
@hippyjoe1955 Alabama law at that time set consent at 16.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@UserNameSW Your point is? In Mexico it is 12 In France they are lowering it to 13.
UserNameSW · 46-50, M
@hippyjoe1955 my point is to stick to the question raised by the OP.
The question is not about age of concent in various parts of the world at various times.
It is about a particular person at a particular time.

In this case, the question is the girl aged 14 who can't give concent to someone in their 30s and someone over 16 that was assulted without consent.

In both of these there was wrong doing. That is the point. Why is it OK for some to assult and other are vilified for it.

Some have said it is party over country.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@UserNameSW There was no girl aged 14. The one you are talking about was mad at Moore for taking away her child and giving it to her mother. It is called revenge and it has no credibility what so ever. The woman in this instance isn't believed by her own son. You will have to do better than that.
UserNameSW · 46-50, M
Five women accused Roy Moore, a United States Senate candidate and former judge, of sexual misconduct, including sexual assault and unwanted sexual advances, said to have occurred while the victims were in their teens and Moore was in his thirties. One of the alleged victims of sexual assault was 14 years old at the time.

Stick to the point from the OP. This has nothing to do with what happened in custody battles. This is about sexual assault.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@UserNameSW There was only one underage accuser and 0 proof of any of the claims. 40 years on and nothing since? Yeah I might have been born at night but it wasn't last night.
UserNameSW · 46-50, M
Claims have not yet been proved, true. That doesn't make them false. 1 claimed to be 14 at the time, 2 claimed to be 16.

Because the claims were denied doesn't make them false.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@UserNameSW Dig a little deeper and find the relationship between Moore and the accusers and no it was not dating. The "14" year old lost her child to her mother because the teenager was doing drugs and leading a dangerous lifestyle. Moore was the attorney representing the teen's mother in the case and won the case. Needless to say the 'teenager' has held a grudge ever since. The one with the yearbook lost a divorce case in front of Judge Moore. She has since admitting to entering false evidence. She forged the yearbook by her own admission. However once again the lie is truly exposed the accusers were all of age except the one whose own son won't believe her to tell him the time of day. So yeah you can blather on all you want but in truth like the Trump Russia collusion story. There is no there there. The charges are all made up and would never stand up in a court of law.
