Indeed. Also, let us not forget the US garrisons and civilians who were overrun in China, the Philippines, Guam, Taiwan, and elsewhere.

That's right. I'm surprised I haven't seen anything on the news celebrating WWII veterans today. There are still some among us.

@bijouxbroussard It's because WWII is no longer relevant. Those veterans are too old, too small an advertisement bloc, too much a burden on society.
And that attitude by our society breaks my heart. So many died repelling the evil of fascism. And they don't matter anymore.
Something to read. "Neptunus Lex" is gone, now. Killed in an fighter aircraft accident, preparing young kids to be the pointy end of the Naval spear. But his words are true.

I know (yes, know--he is 104, and still kicking)the man who, as a civilian working for the USAAF, was the foreman who oversaw the modification of 8 of Doolittle's 16 B-25s for the raid over Tokyo in April 1942.

let's not forget that US government knew of the attack beforehand and let it happen anyway without warming anyone just to change the public opinion so usa would enter ww2.
