Suppose you need to do evil in order to achieve an important goal. Do you then love yourself for having done evil in order to better yourself?

I don't see how any evil deed can actually improve something.
But please give me some examples for perspective.

@SW-User killing Osama Bin Laden
SW-User
@oneperson Was it really an evil deed or perhaps a patriotic or an anti-terrorist deed?
Good and evil is grey area and when you weigh the options, you got to do what you got to do for the greater good.

if it was good then killing must be good

therefore any government would be wrong to prohibit killing

either way: killing Osama Bin Laden = evil
option 1: because killing is wrong
option 2: because the government who killed prohibits its citizens to do the same, meaning it's either amoral or illegitimate

@oneperson It is not so literal. Should one let a serial killer wander the streets because let him do his evil, that is his karma, we cannot touch him because we will do not evil, we will sit by and let hundreds more die by his hand.

So, instead of killing one person, our passivity kills 100. Just because we do not directly kill those victims, does not mean their blood is not on our hands. Our non action led to their deaths.

You always choose the lesser evil.

you're getting a little carried away. My question is: is feeling good about killing someone, even if you find they were killers themselves, something to be proud of?
SW-User
@oneperson Your logic is faulty. You choose to see it as black and white.
oneperson · 31-35, M
ok then
SW-User
@oneperson I am going by your words, not getting carried away. I think being the reason to protect other people by a killers hands is a reason to feel good. It is not the act of killing that is a pride, but the act of reducing terror.

therefore: yes?
SW-User
@oneperson Yes is so loose and can mean anything. I explained it in more explanatory words above.

alright
