Why do people rush to block because they disagree with someone? Do you do it? Why?

I've noticed the vast majority of people that have blocked me or baleeted their comments do so with an insult as a parting shot then burn the forest to hide their tracks.

No. I haven't blocked anyone ... yet. I don't agree though with the authors of a question being able to delete someone's response. If they don't like an opposing opinion, don't ask the question in the first place.
@Zoranna Well put. I have deleted people's responses here and there when it's grossly out of place. Had someone calling someone else a cunt because they didn't like a book the person recommended for example.

@EllaDisenchanted They can and should be reported.

@Zoranna The ability for another person to delete someone else's comments is beyond any logical reasoning. I find it baffling anyone would include such a pointless and divisive tool for users.

@MethDozer I totally agree with you. It makes you wonder if it's worth your while even bothering to answer when you disagree with the post.
@MethDozer I'd agree at one point but seeing how some people on here act I now understand why some censor. I've done it on occasion myself. But I've noticed that some either do it once in a while or constantly with very little in the middle.

@EllaDisenchanted Thing is though people complain about the excessive hate-trolling and sock puppets. Both those "tools" are what draws that and encourages that. I've been on thread and discussion sites for years going back to USENET and IRC days. Been a moderator on several. I've seen what works and what doesn't and these two things never work and increase the conflicts.
They just make a site irrelevant and impossible to take seriously.
@MethDozer Good point.

@EllaDisenchanted Is that a prayer bonnet in your avi?
MethDozer · M
@EllaDisenchanted Were you raised Mennonite or Amish? I don't know why I'm curious as it means nothing to me.
@MethDozer Yes, former Amish.

@EllaDisenchanted Oh. Neat-o
