Why do people rush to block because they disagree with someone? Do you do it? Why?

I've noticed the vast majority of people that have blocked me or baleeted their comments do so with an insult as a parting shot then burn the forest to hide their tracks.

One reason. They can. The site uses a misguided system that allows people to do both and it renders it pointless for anything but lulz.
