When my mother took me to the public library for the first time when I was seven years old.
SW-User
@Zoranna What passion did you discover there?
Zoranna · F
@SW-User Books and reading, and an endless supply! I'd been given a book that year, my first, and I cried when I'd finished it thinking there were no more books. Silly child. Have been an avid reader ever since. :-)
SW-User
@Zoranna What do you enjoy reading most?
Zoranna · F
@SW-User Lots. Murder mysteries, psychological thrillers, autobiographies, biographies etc.
SW-User
@Zoranna The last biography of either type you read?
Zoranna · F
@SW-User Ian Botham, English former first-class cricketer.
SW-User
@Zoranna I have always wondered how one plays cricket. I never have.
Zoranna · F
@SW-User I've just checked your profile and see you're American, so I'm not surprised you've never played cricket. :-) I've only played in family matches but I do enjoy watching it, particularly "The Ashes" between England and Australia, which starts here shortly. Come on Aussies! lol
SW-User
@Zoranna The "ashes"?
Zoranna · F
@SW-User It's series of 5 test matches between England and Australia, and the winner keeps The Ashes.

The Ashes urn is a small urn made of terracotta and standing 11 cm high, believed to contain the ashes of a burnt cricket bail. It was presented to Ivo Bligh, the captain of the England cricket team, as a personal gift after a friendly match hosted at Rupertswood mansion in Sunbury during the 1882–83 tour in Australia.

As of August 2015, England holds the Ashes, having won three of the five Tests in the 2015 Ashes series. Australia and England have won 32 series each and five series have been drawn.

The battle is on again here (Australia), 5 test matches from November 23 to January 8, 2018. We HAVE to win them back again! Wish us luck. :-)
SW-User
@Zoranna I do wish you luck, mate! I would love to visit Australia.
Zoranna · F
@SW-User Thanks! Save your pennies and visit, I think you'd enjoy it. :-)
SW-User
@Zoranna Would I? Give me the sales pitch? Where should I visit?
Zoranna · F
@SW-User I'll let you do that research yourself as that's part of the fun of planning a trip, but don't forget Western Australia! That's where I live, and although I may be slightly biased, the West is Best! hehe.
SW-User
@Zoranna You will have to give me a lesson in local slang? I find it exceedingly charming.
Zoranna · F
@SW-User That's a big ask, there's so much of it I wouldn't know where to start. lol
SW-User
@Zoranna You're bloomin' right, mate. It would do me heaps of good if you helped though. 💛
Zoranna · F
@SW-User It's hard to think when you're put on the spot. I say things without thinking about it and another American friend of mine will laugh as he's never heard it before. He started an Aussie dictionary years ago. lol
SW-User
@Zoranna What do you call markers? I remember an Ausie calling them something really odd.
Zoranna · F
@SW-User "Markers"? What sort of markers? I'm not following.
SW-User
@Zoranna Like sharpies. For writing on things. Felt tip pens, for example. I think they're called "ink masters" or something very futuristic sounding there.
Zoranna · F
@SW-User Sharpies would just be a brand name, I've never heard them called that. Aussie slang does vary from the East Coast to the West though.
I'm going to love and leave you for a while, there's a show coming on that I want to watch but it's been lovely chatting with you. Bye for now. :-)
SW-User
@Zoranna Enjoy! Feel free to message me.
Zoranna · F
@SW-User Thanks. Likewise, bye. :-)
