I Have Something On My Mind

I’m currently taking my 3rd online ESL course to get my TESOL certification. There are 5 altogether, 7 weeks each. I kicked butt in the first two. I should be done all 5 by November. I wouldn’t be taking these 5 courses had my college accepted my Canadian certification from 1998, but they didn’t.

In the meantime, I also have to take 2 training courses, so I can get Distance Education Certified for remote online teaching before the end of the year. This is a requirement for the community college I teach at & others as well. I’ve already completed the first course, and the second course I will do in July.

Ironically however, due to Covid, there may be less ESL classes offered, and since I am at the bottom of the totem pole on the seniority list, I may not be assigned a class for the fall term. So despite my intentions of completing my TESOL certification, as mandated by my college, I could be SOL in the end.

Funny how life turns out sometimes. 😐🤷🏻‍♀️

I can see why that is disturbing and dissapointing. Hopefully your long term investment will still be the hoped for long term career benefit as the world returns to normal

@PowerofStories Thank you. It‘ll be a $2500 investment once I’m done. My Canadian one from 1998 cost less than $600. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
