You won't lose weight by starving; that teaches your body that food is scarce and only hurts your efforts.
I think that this is part of why models focus on salads and soups and drinking lots of water: feel full but reduce the calories sitting in your stomach.
As a way to help you mentally, try to ask yourself, "Am I *actually* hungry?" when you reach for something, to try to stop nervous/bored/etc. eating.
Clearing out empty calorie snacks--so you only have healthy alternatives--is important, too.
But you can still have chocolate, etc.--just in smaller amounts. 😊
