My room had a lot of character

The room I was renting last year had a lot of character. Each corner reflected a little chunk of my personality. Maybe I'm not as bland as I think.

When I first invited him over, I showed him all the little tid bits:

The plants, the books, the cute colour coordinated mats, the candles, the diffusers, the cute bed covers, my gym accessories, the view from my window.

I showed him things I had just bought for myself, all the jewelry, the graduation dress, the accessories, and he looked uncomfortable that I had to "buy these myself".

I was too independent for him. I was too whole as a person for him. I was too content with myself for him. He wanted to be a white knight for a damsel in distress. And while he told me that's exactly who I am, that I have too many unresolved issues, the things that put him off were those that I could do for myself.

why do you think of him so often when he was not a good person at all? why put your energy on someone who was never good to you. remember people who were actually good to you.
