I would love to go back to the fifties

I am drawn to almost everything from that time period. Music and films, home styles and furniture and fashion that still looks amazing and iconic 70 years later. Peplum tops with pencil skirts and dresses with crinoline skirts, make any girl feel pretty and feminine. Retro hair styles and cat eye sunglasses. Even the underwear was sexy for pin-up burlesque look. I'd happily live in the fifties and thrive I think. It's a time when men were men and women were women.

I was born in '61 so got the handmedowns drom my brother. We lived in northern minnesota so life was a bit primitive. There was little plastiv in the fifties. Glass jars for ketchup and mayo. Wood floors, single pane windows heavy with frost on the inside in the winter. Heat was from wood furnaces. Electric power was still fairly new so fuse boxes were rated for a whopping 40 amps. Up there we got one tv channel and the bookmobile came by once a week. The roads were still dirt and became so muddy in the spring that we had mud days. Every night dad would spray the inside of the house with shelltox. It smelled ok but was banned in the seventies. Cigarettes were mostly roll your own. The cenus velvet cans were saved for farm repairs and the papers were great for putting notes on for confirmation recitation. Radios and tvs still mostly used tubes. The movies and shows were mostly about our victory over the nazis, spys, the wonders of nuclear power flying saucers, westerns, lucy, bob hope, the three stooges, abbot and Costello, and sha na na. A V8 engine was standard but there were some slant sixes.
