@NerdySoph I did not. Gene Roddenberry created them out of whole cloth. However, the technology he revealed in that program was real. It is the reason he is currently incarcerated in a maximum security prison on Rigel 7.

@Guardian I was hatched many years ago on a planet whose name you could not hope to pronounce. My people inherited the planet from humans who had destroyed themselves in a nuclear holocaust, or so I thought. As it turns out, a small group of humans escaped the destruction in an intergenerational ark ship. (This is what you humans do.)

Fortunately, we ravens are highly intelligent, and I was able to construct my own spaceship capable of traveling between planets, utilizing only spare parts left over from the previous civilization and blueprints I found on a computer which had survived. Once I had escaped my planet's orbit, I was contacted by a passing group of pirates. They abducted me, as pirates are wont to do, but I quickly rose through their ranks it became captain.

I'm afraid that for legal reasons, I cannot disclose all of the exploits we enjoyed, but suffice to say that we all became quite wealthy. Unhappily, I attracted the attention of the Galactic government, and so ended my career as a pirate. I hid for a time on a mining asteroid before hiring the services of one Rick O'Shea, a retired bounty hunter, to smuggle me out.

Eventually, I acquired a customized starship, which I captained with the help of Mr. O'Shea, Cachinnate of the Hyena people, James Tiberius Troll, and some others who joined the crew anonymously. Unhappily, James and Cachinnate had a falling-out, and James resigned from my crew. We searched for years for any trace of humans, and my remaining crew members eventually gave up, but I was determined to punish your species for destroying so many worlds across the galaxy.

Eventually, as you know, I arrived here on Earth, only to learn that someone had tipped off the Galactic government as to my location. That is why I hide here.

@MorbidCynic I was very nearly arrested for interstellar piracy once, but I managed to escape.

@mindstruggle Nothing. Well, nothing that concerns the governments of this planet.

@MonaReeves86 Only once. Before I disabled it, my ship had a device which uploaded all of my memories to the ship's computer every time I boarded. In the event of my death, the device would grow a clone body at an accelerated rate, then download my memories into the clone.

I can never be absolutely certain that I am the same being I was before the procedure.

@SW-User I was there to combat the neo-Nazis and other despicable individuals. I was also there to engage with the Christians. A large part of how my character was created was as a reductio ad absurdum argument against the old "You cannot prove that God does not exist".

At some point, I enraged a particular neo-Nazi, who proceeded to make dozens of clone accounts in my name in an ongoing attack.
