In my dream I couldn't remember the name for skunks. I called them fart squirrels.

Good that you could recall it so well. I have had hilarious dreams that made me wake up laughing. The trouble is, I can never remember anything other than I was enjoying them.
itsok · 31-35, F
@FreddieUK if I wake up immediately after them I don’t have a problem recalling
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@itsok@FreddieUK I'm not sure I have ever had "hilarious" dreams, but I certainly have strange ones - very surreal versions of real places, or totally fictitious places my mind paints in great detail!

Like you I rarely remember them, which is normal. They are fleeting events and we recall only a few of them.

When I was working I hardly even dreamt about work. Yet I have had a quite a few referencing work and work colleagues since I retired nearly ten years ago, and one or two strong enough for me to remember them them!

However, although dreams play with real memories, I do not believe in ascribing "meanings", let alone "interpretations", to dreams. An "interpretation" in that sense is merely an invention.

As for those claiming to be able to "interpret" others' dreams for them... They are mere quacks. Fraudulent if they charge for it.

@ArishMell @ArishMell

At school, I borrowed from the school library Freud's 'Interpretation of Dreams'.
As a 15 y-o I found it heavy going and only read the first quarter of it.
