Doing a bit of reflective thinking

I stumbled upon a quote at FB by Eckhart Tolle that said something to the effect of Stay in the present, that is where your power and joy lives. That in the past is our *story* and that is not who we are.🙂 I can intellectually understand the view that we are not a simple story that occurred..even though it's veryyyyy hard putting it into practice. I know I went through horrible and awful trauma, and that often DOES make you IDENTIFY with the event, or abuse etc .

But then I thought about the view subsequently of myself , low, dumb, broken or shattered etc. EVEN THAT is a story still!! If I could start to really comprehend that I'm not some low worthless being due to trauma. I'm a human and might do some things differently than others but hey, I'm alive🌺And that broken is a sad word AND even if I FEEL unworthy, it's still a STORY ..NOT me 🪻

At any point of life, right from our birth, things happen and we react. And we start to make things happen guided by our thoughts and action. Things don't turn out the way we want as what has to happen at that time happens and keeps happening. And we keep travelling in time reacting, trying, failing , succeeding etc.

As time passes, our story which is our history keeps getting written. And for many of us, history keeps getting repeated. Why? because we keep doing the same thing again and again as we are unable to reconcile with our ego. And then we become the worst critic of ourselves.

We have difficulty joining with people doing the same thing. So we want to do something different to stand out. But we get bogged down when we never get attention or appreciation for what we do differently. Many would ask why are you doing it differently ? why are you driving in the opposite direction of the traffic ?

As the popular saying "It does not matter where we came from, for all that matters is where we are going?". So rather than sulking or taking pride on what happened in the past, it may be good to steer our life towards a tomorrow that we can create.

The best way to predict the future, is to create it. Present is a gift of our yesterday. But Tomorrow is our gift to our future.
