Not necessarily.
There can be those obsessive about altruism.
Though more than likely the obsession is selfish.
Religion could be another obsession. Especially when it turns to fanaticism.
There's nothing selfish in becoming a martyr. Dead is dead.
Yet they do it for the cause rather than for themselves.
