When people claim I have social anxiety...
I know I have probably gone a bit back-and-forth on social anxiety and that most people (nearly everyone) claim I exhibit varying traces of it, but maybe I do. At least I am starting to see their side of their perception, even if it might be misguided, although maybe it isn't as misguided as I once thought.
So, I don't know what to make of this sudden revelation, but I think instead of feeling attacked when people confront me with their perceptions about me, I will more thoughtfully consider it. I don't think just because I find certain social situations hard to deal with and I possibly act awkwardly, that is definitely social anxiety. But maybe it is.
Today, I was introduced to someone and the person who introduced me said, as a side comment to the introduction and as a joke (because he and the other person laughed), "he has social anxiety."
