The Problem of Free Will: If a person cannot even conceptualize or experience an errant, rebellious, or intrusive thought, it is fair to ask if they still possess total freedom of choice.

Loss of Autonomy: Completely filtering or overriding a person's neurological or mental processes looks like a constant external control of the mind. Identity and Consciousness:

Human brains generate random neural impulses. If every random, chaotic, or dark spark is blocked before it registers, it raises the question of whether the person experiencing this state is still an independent individual or an altered creation.

If one is wanting purity as I see in your comment on the other response, then what I tend to think of is then going into the spiritual side and not just scientific and logical, the unseen realm which the human mind cannot quite yet make mesh with scientific discoveries. When a purity of thought is desired, and seen as hardly ever working this is expressing for example what Paul was talking about in the 7th chapter of Romans the what I do, I do not what I know is best. I don't know where you land in the theological spectrum, and I do not know where I land there either, but there is supposed to be a struggle involved with the will and what is best and not best. So as far as I can say right now is that one must be factoring in other realms of import and not just philosophy, to bring in all the major sections of the whole spectrum of human thought to bear upon the struggles being experienced. And if one is saying you just need to do this and that and there'll be no struggle are lying to you.

@Adroneandastrain I understand what you are saying. But In heaven it almost seems intrusive thoughts will stopped by taking away something from us and losing our autonomy. Everything is a purifying path. We have to keep our minds busy for not to allow temptation to come in.

@IsawDDevil Yes, it'slike traction, being stuck in the filth of being who we are, and striving for what is higher, and actually clean, the effort required to rise there, but in certain schools different theories abound. May you experience gratifying progress ....:)

Free will is not about controlling those errand thoughts.. free will is about what to do when they come.
Its not about keeping it from raining tomorrow, no one can do that...
Free will is about deciding to either go out or stay in when the rain does come
