Random Thoughts I Have Had….

What if cats howled like dogs whenever they heard a siren? I live a mile from a fire station and hear fire truck sirens several times a day. And live pretty close to a senior retirement center (nursing center I think), a Veteran’s center and a children’s hospital. So even more sirens during the day and night. So many feral cats around here it would be a howl fest day and night.

Some times the bobcats or the mountain lions at the farm get pretty vocal, especially when the females are in heat.

@TexChik there are people here that find the babies and raise them to where they are tame and make pets out of them, and some of them breed with cats so half-bobcats with a stubby tail.

@cherokeepatti They are beautiful...We try to keep their numbers under control at the farm because of the ground nesting birds (Turkey, Quail) and deer, cattle, and chickens.

@TexChik They sure are beautiful.

Does the bird imitate them all, Patti?
cherokeepatti · 70-79, F
@ArtieKat no, never heard my parakeets imitate the cats. But have heard several times different years mockingbirds that sounded like they were meowing kittens. The neighbor next door has junk piled up on his patio and around the back yard and the feral cats have kittens over there. When the mockingbirds come back in the springtime they hear the kittens.

When I was a child we kept the windows open at night.
Every once in a while a cat fight would happen and it sounded like a demon howling outside your window.
I remember being woken up a few times to that caterwauling and not knowing what it was.

That's one of those funny-not-funny thoughts...ALL those people needing help...but it IS funny to think of cats howling like dogs!
