Self aware Narcissistic Personality Disorder in therapy here.
In darker times of my life I’ve found myself thinking about who I will target.
1. Trusting, so I know there is less risk of them learning who I am. They’ll take me at face value and won’t look to deep and doxx.
2. Low emotional intelligence so they won’t catch on to what’s happening.
3. Find their trauma so I can use it to my advantage.
4. Find their base desires/love language so I can trickle feed it to them to keep them coming back to me to fulfill my own needs to get more.
We look for weak minded. We also tend to look for crazy and avoid it because crazy tends to draw too much attention. If we get involved with crazy, we keep them at arms length until we find a new supply with lower risk and discard the crazy.
That’s just what I’ve learned about myself in very intense therapy though. I can’t speak for everyone.

@SW-User I understand that. I have been going since I was a kid and while I don't have NPD I still have a lot of issues I can't seem to fix.

@Idontbelonghere our world is broken. We break. One day things will be made right.

They are attracted to those who have so much shame they would struggle to seek out help. And would struggle to detach emotionally.
That's mainly it.
They will target you if they know they can get away with it. They don't usually scan for aspects of craziness, because their focus is on victimizing you.

@Miram I agree . But sometimes those same things can let you turn into the same ...quickly...in that situation. I like to study the psychology of serial killers ...etc. And I was thinking of the Nightstalker climbing in people's windows. He would have been in for a rude awakening if he had tried to climb into my house when I was still living at home.

@Idontbelonghere Some of them like not knowing. It is intentional.
@Miram What a way to get a thrill. Do they think wow I can get killed or put in a cage myself...?
and then folks wonder why people can be paranoid and distrustful.
One of my self defense mechanisms has been to be make people think I'm crazy. I got really strong and carried knives. I knew from experience you had to be crazier than the predators.

Unfortunately, predators are pretty good at picking out their victims.
