Sage’s Tuesday Thoughts

The plan is to actually do more than one but you get the idea.

I am doing just that. I leave Tuesday
SageWanderer · 70-79, M
@akindheart I’m leaving on Thursday and will be gone for the weekend.

That's what I try to do when I go on holiday. Mostly visit places that i haven't been to before even though they are in the country in which I grew up.

@ninalanyon I just got back from a weekend get away and after discussions with other campers have added to my list of places to visit.

@SageWanderer I'm more of an urban person and I do most of my holidaying in the UK. My technique is to start by opening something like Booking.com and telling it to find the cheapest acceptable accommodation in the UK. Then I filter out all the places that I've visited already or are for some reason totally unacceptable. I'm usually left with a fairly small set of places and I'll probably make one of those the starting point for a long holiday. These days I travel for at least three months at a time. So once I've found that starting point I then search for somewhere not too far away to visit a week or two later. i stay for anything from a couple of nights to a couple of weeks in each place and usually don't plan more than a week or two ahead.

Starting by insisting on a cheap places forces me to consider places that I would otherwise reject and that means I get to visit parts of the country that are interesting despite the accommodation I stay in not always being wonderful! Sometimes what looked acceptable on the web turns out to be rather less so but also sometimes I find absolute gems of places that are cheap simply because they are in unpopular parts of the country.

Yeah. Turn left instead of right.

And on until morning.
James1956 · 61-69, M
I do that as often as possible.
