Certainly not my way! I'm still in contact with a friend I met, aged 5, some 65 years ago! We live on opposite sides of the Atlantic now but ain't technology wonderful. I'm due to meet up with another friend soon - I've only known him for 55 years lol

I feel similarly. I found having the conversation of "I am not the same person when we first met. I hope you know that. Things you see of me, what I do, how I am, they will change."

I will never pretend for someone else's comfort.

Most likely not just you.
It could be many things..e.g

Intimacy issues.
Imposter syndrome.
Avoidance.
Self esteem.

It cannot be identified in isolation. Other factors surrounding it would shed more light.

Can't relate...i have 3 close friends that i have had for 12 years and longer. They have seen me at my best and at my worst.

The older you get. 10 years will feel about 10 days ago. Many of my friends I’ve known 10 plus years. People won’t judge you if you known them for that long.

Do you even feel like you're the same person you were 10 years ago? I don't. That's why it doesn't bother me.

I wish I had friends that I've known for 10 years.

That's kind of fascinating actually.

My three closest friends today have known me for 45, 36 and 25 years respectively. I take comfort in having them, because they know me even better (in some cases) than family.
And they like me anyway ! 🤪
