Hello, I love military, let me help you out with this.

First off, we need to know what differentiates these groups, it's mainly the responsibilities, numbers of soldiers and the ranks of the high command in the group.

I'll start with the lowest group and go up from there

Fire Squad
Usually made up of 4-5 soldiers, highest ranking person is I believe a sergeant.

Platoon
Usually made up of 3-4 fire squads. Highest ranking is a Second Lieutenant (usually)

Company
Usually contains 3-4 platoons, sometimes less. There's three high ranks in this group. First going Company Commanding Officer, then Executive Officer and then Company First Sergeant. We'll call them CCO, CXO and CFS respectively.

Batallion
Really depends but I think it is made up of 2 or 3 companies. The highest ranks are Batallion Commanding, executive and Sergeant Major in that order.

Brigade/Group
The name varies on branch and specific unit, for example Army Special Forces have Groups rather than Brigades, while the 82nd Airborne Division has Brigades. Consists of either 3-4 companies or I think 2 batallions, might be wrong on that.
Highest rank is a Brigade CO, XO and SM.

Regiment/Division
Again, depends on branch and command. Contains usually 3-4 brigades/batallions. The 75th Rangers Regiment or the 82nd Airborne Division. The highest ranks are Division CO, XO and SM.

Command
These consist of 3 or more divisions and/or regiments. Theres 4 high ranks in here. The Chief of Staff, the Command Sergeant Major, the Deputy Commanding General and the Commanding General lowest to highest.

Army
These have like 7 Commands give or take, depending on the branch. Highest Ranking are the Joint Chiefs of Staff which are too many but I'll name a few. Commander In Chief, Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Chief of Staff of the Army, Vice Chief of Staff of the Army, Director of Army Staff, Sergeant Major of the Army and so on.
Previously the highest ranking officer was an O11 which was General of the Army, not used anymore I believe.

The entire military
Consists of like 6 or so branches as of now. Ruled by the respective Commander in Chief or wtv they got going for them. Used to be ruled by O12, General of the Armies. It was made for George Washington

without looking up the details, a platoon is the smallest group on uour list. usually made up of several squads of 10 to 20 soldiers. several platoons make up a regiment and then either a battalion or a brigade fro. there. i forget which is which.
