What is it with conservatives and the taliban?

I've noticed a strange trend with conservatives lately on the far right end of the spectrum. I was watching a debate yesterday and it was about a range of topics. However, someone mentioned that the Taliban were tossing gay people off roofs and the conservatives in the group were telling that person that the Taliban only kills child molesters and they don't kill gay people but if they did, they're serial molesters. I've seen variations of far righters sticking up for the Taliban on a variety of subjects so I'm kind of wondering, WTF guys.

Eh, this is kinda typical amd history repeating itself. Once they're done waging war on a place, they start to humanize with their fasc. Grandpa bombs the Nazi's? Dad goes on about how Hitler was bad but right about some things. Father fights the commies? Son admires things about an ex-KGB leader.

You can find lots of examples of this post-enemy rethinking amongst hardline conservatives.

I mean at the end of the day it's just a symptom not the root of the problem. If you're a far right authoritarian relgious zelot it really doesn't make nuch difference to me if you sympathize with far right authprtarian zealots of other religions or not.
